Lapan6Online : Iraqi Islamic leader Sayyid Muqtada Al-Sadr called on Islamic governments around the world to take serious action to stand up and defend the sanctity of Islam and support the Qur’an.
He also called on Islamic countries to demand anti-Islamic laws which are equivalent to the anti-Semitism laws passed, enacted and implemented by some countries.
This call was conveyed by the leader of the movement or Sadrist Movement Sayyid Muqtada Al-Sadr in Iraq, as reported by SPRI International Representative Hussain Muhammad Naser Almslmawi from Iraq Wednesday (26/7/2023).
The Iraqi Islamic leader spoke out following the burning of the Al Qur’an by the Danish-Swedish politician, Rasmus Paludan, who is chairman of the Satrm Kurs of the Right-Wing Political Party. Rasmus burned the Al-Qur’an on Saturday (21/1/2023) during a demonstration in front of the Turkish Embassy.
Sayyid Muqtada Al-Sadr called on the leader of the Islamic State to punish anyone who offends or tries to offend Islam and its sanctity. “Leaders of Islamic countries should work to limit these violations (the burning of the Al-Qur’an) and other ongoing violations, which belittle the feelings of Muslims in the world under the pretext of the freedom of opinion and expression that is permitted by many Western governments,” said Muqtada.
He also expects a serious attitude from the governments of Islamic countries and the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC). According to him, the demands of the Al-Sadr leader are the demands of the Shari’a and the law because this action (burning the Qur’an) creates jealousy and revenge.
This, continued Muqtada, occurs in many countries due to incitement and dissonance in society, as well as belittling and ignoring other people’s beliefs. Especially blatant violations of human rights. And everyone is obliged to respect the beliefs of others without exception based on the principle of belief in what they believe.
“Respect what I think and the record is dualism. In this sense it is analogous to anti-Islam and homosexual laws, which are advocated by the majority of Western countries,” he said.
He also stressed that the Al-Sadr leader’s call was a call to support the Qur’an alone and not a call for anything else as some people think.
He also called for a million-strong peaceful demonstration next Friday in Iraq in support of the Al-Qur’an. It should be noted that the leader al-Sadr and his followers protected people from various sects and religions in Iraq during the war on terrorism. (*Hussein)
